Bosnia remains a reliable UN partner in peacekeeping missions

Bosnjak highlighted that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s military and police have been involved in various UN peacekeeping missions for years, and plans are in place to expand the country's commitment to these operations significantly.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to be a reliable partner in UN peacekeeping efforts. We are dedicated to contributing to UN peace missions and are prepared to increase our participation. Since the last UN ministerial conference, our contributions have grown significantly, both in scope and quality. This demonstrates Bosnia and Herzegovina’s long-standing support for UN peacekeeping operations in the years ahead," he said.

Since 2012, Bosnia has provided peacekeeping training through the Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC).

Through this recognised institution, over 700 military officers, observers, and police officers have been trained for peace mission participation, according to the Ministry of Security.

"Understanding the importance of training and capacity-building to improve the performance, safety, and protection of peacekeeping forces, and to fulfill the mandates of UN missions, Bosnia and Herzegovina has decided to expand its contributions in this area by increasing the number of training sessions and courses for participants from both Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries," Bosnjak stated.

He also added that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to supporting and promoting greater representation of women in UN peacekeeping operations.
