HYDERABAD: Excitement is building among forest staff, workers and volunteers who are engaged in the
wildlife census in Telangana as a direct sighting of a leopard has been reported.
This apart, in the
Kagaznagar division, fresh pugmark of a tiger was noticed. This was in two beats – one in
Bejjur Range and another in
Penchikalpet Range. The wildlife census began on January 22 and will go on up to January 29. This wildlife census has been taken up in forest areas across the country.
Forest officials on Tuesday said that a leopard pugmark was found in
Sirpur range.
The information was collated from reports from all forest beats in
Telangana on the first day.
A sloth bear pugmark was noticed in seven beats and a direct sighting of leopard was reported in Sirpur range. A tiger pug mark was also found in Penchikalpet range. There was also a direct sighting of sloth bear in Kagaznagar range.
